#KidsCompanyPH Picks: Dolls and more!

Did you know that dolls are some of the oldest toys that children have ever played with? Records dating back as far as 100 AD in Greece show how dolls are an integral part of a child's playtime. As dolls evoke a representation of the child herself, it opens doors for learning social skills, language, empathy, and creativity. Imagination's the limit for these kids and no wonder dolls stood the test of time in playtime history.

As an ode to our dolls and the memories that came with it, the Toy Squad at KidsCompanyPH is rounding up its top 8 girls' toys recommendation for all doll-lovers out there!

Barbie Active Sports Doll

Of course, this list wouldn't be without the OG doll in the world -- the Barbie doll. During my childhood, the Barbie dolls I played with are only articulated in the major joints and in the head. It didn't matter much when I was young since I still get to be the Princess of Mermaladia (Yes, that's a made-up kiddie sea kingdom) and dress her up with extra clothes and loose fabric lying around our house. Years passed and the doll designers at Mattel came up with the Made to Move and Active Sports line which featured fully articulated dolls. It can now dance the salsa or play karate or do poses as you which it to be! No wonder it's one of the top girls' toys in the Philippines.

Shopkins Shoppies Dolls

Little girls in all parts of the world are fond of the little collectibles and dollies from the Shopville world. No wonder our mother team brought Shopkins to the Philippines! Whether you're familiar with Shopkins (have you watched their series on Youtube?) or not, you really can't deny the cuteness of the Shoppie dolls. And now on its "Shop Style" season, the dolls are in their most stylish ever!

Ever After High Epic Winter Crystal Winter Doll

I have a confession to make: I binge watch the Ever After High series on Netflix. As a 24-year old, I developed a healthy obsession with Raven Queen and the rest of her friends as they go on their day to day adventures in Ever After High. And this Crystal Winter doll from the Epic Winter series is one of Ever After High's best-made dolls with all the accessories and amazing detail in her clothing.

Happy Places Miniature Decor Welcome Pack

The Shoppies from Shopville are heading home to Happyville! Imagine going home to a decorative house such as the ones in Happy Places. Yes, it would look a little different when everything in your furniture smiles or winks at you but at least the Shoppie dolls won't be lonely.

Enchantimals Doll & Animal

I've always loved the film Zootopia and now Enchantimals fills the empty gap in for me! The Enchantimals dolls are lovable characters who share a special bond with their animal friends. They're always together, they got their backs, and yes, they kinda look alike! "Caring Is our Everything", the Enchantimals said and I couldn't agree more. Collect these dolls and build a world of your own filled with kindness and enchanting stories.

Shimmer & Shine 6 Basic Doll

When I was a kid, I've always wondered if genies and fairies were real. The inner child in me still clings on to that thought but the Nickelodeon show Shimmer and Shine gives you a glimpse of how life would be with genies. Leah is one lucky girl for having Shimmer and Shine on her side every day. And the good news is, you too can bring the magic of genies into your playtime with the Shimmer and Shine dolls! These 6" dolls come in with a cute genie outfit, a hair comb, and a few accessories.

Barbie Dreamtopia Fairy Doll with Flying Wings

The first Barbie movie that I ever watched was the Barbie Fairytopia where Barbie goes on different worlds as a wingless fairy, Elena, to fight the evil witch Laverna. Now, they have the Barbie Dreamtopia, Chelsea's make-believe world where she goes on different adventures with her elder sister Barbie. I've been fond of the series as well and imagine my delight when they released a Barbie winged doll that comes with 2 flying wings (yes, those flying wings really fly!). My little Elena heart is happy for the little girls' playtime today.

Barbie Doll & Fashion Pack

When I was young, the Barbie dolls available had a uniform look: slim body, long legs, and flowing blonde hair. As the years go by, I'm quite happy knowing that dolls are now looking more and more human -- slowly breaking the stereotypes, at a young age, of how a woman should look. Now you can play with a chubby Barbie (fit for me), a tall Barbie, a petite Barbie, and many more! It's a good ground for little girls who want to have a "friend" in their little world that resonates more with them. It's a plus when they come with a set of clothes and accessories too!

And that's it for this series. Watch out for our next list!
